My therapeutic model:
My foundation is as a person-centred therapist, which means that I believe that we all have the capacity and the wisdom to resolve our difficulties and to improve our lives. Unfortunately this ability to know what is right for us can become blocked when we are in distress and have negative life experiences - particularly those that affect our sense of value or around feelings of shame.
I attend regular professional development training, seminars and events in order to enhance my professional practice and attend supervision regularly.
My coaching model:
I am a qualified Barefoot Coach and am a Member of ICF (International Coaching Federation). My approach in coaching is very similar to my counselling in terms of having the belief that the client holds the answer. Being told what to do is far less powerful than for a client to get clear on what they want to do and means they are more likely to go ahead with their goal as well! I use different aspects within coaching such as visual exercises, powerful questions or even looking at beliefs that might be holding you back.
Barefoot Certificate in Personal and Business Coaching, accredited by ICF.
I hold a BA (Hons) degree in Person-Centred Counselling from the University of Middlesex and a Diploma in Person-Centred Counselling from the Metanoia Institute in London.
I am a fully qualified counsellor and registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (Registered Member MBACP) and I adhere to the BACP Ethical Framework for Good Practice and am professionally supervised. Please have a look at www.bacp.co.uk for more information.
Outside of my private practice, I have experience of seeing clients from many different cultural and social backgrounds at Metanoia Counselling and Psychotherapy Services (MCPS), The Counselling Partnership, Place2Be and Ealing Abbey Counselling Services (EACS). These are all not-for profit organisations providing low-cost counselling within the community.
I also work as a Sessional Mental Health Assessor for Metanoia Counselling and Psychotherapy Services (MCPS) in Ealing.
Certificate in CBT - The Grove, London
Certificate in Couples Counselling, Metanoia Institute
TA 101 certificate, Ironmill College, Poole
Working with people gives me great pleasure and I feel honoured to be let into my clients internal worlds and to hopefully enable them to improve their lives. For many years I worked creatively within the media, had my own businesses and then trained as a counsellor.
